For our friends across the pond that is part of the board, I have found that quite a few more stories from the original series will be coming to dvd fairly soon.
Here they are, in story order...
William Hartnell "The Space Museum" and "The Chase" - Stories #15 and #16 respectively, both will be in one set. It was just released earlier this week.
Patrick Troughton "THE DOMINATORS" - Story #44. It has only been stated that it is in production, and no release date has been given yet. It is still coming, though, and I personally can't wait... him and Tom Baker are my favorites from the original series, and I lean a bit more to Patrick, particularly since so few of his stories have survived.
Jon Pertwee "THE CURSE OF PELADON" - Story #61. Along with #73, it is part of the PELADON TALES set. It will be released May 4, the same day the U.S. gets it. There is also a seperate release for it.
"THE TIME MONSTER" - Story #64. Along with #96 and #108, it is part of the MYTHS AND LEGENDS set coming March 29.
"THE MONSTER OF PELADON" - Along with #61, it is part of the PELADON TALES set. It is coming May 4, the same day the U.S. gets it. There is also a seperate release for it.
Tom Baker "UNDERWORLD" - Story #96. Along with #64 and #108, it is part of the MYTHS AND LEGENDS set coming March 29.
"THE CREATURE FROM THE PIT" - Story #106. No release date has been given yet, but it is in production.
"THE HORNS OF NIMON" - Story #108. Along with #64 and #96, it is part of the MYTHS AND LEGENDS set coming March 29.
Peter Davison "The King's Demons" and "Planet of Fire - Stories #129 and #135. It will be called the KAMELION COLLECTION. Coming out June 14.
Sylvester McCoy "TIME AND THE RANI" - Story #148. Coming September 6.
Also coming June 7 is a 3 episode release of the new Doctor, Matt Smith. It will contain the first three episodes of his run... "THE ELEVENTH HOUR", "THE BEAST BELOW" and "VICTORY OF THE DALEKS".
And for the Whovians that reside in the U.S., this means that we will be getting these stories soon after the Region 2 versions are released. I would say between 2-6 months, given past history. That means we will have, after these stories are released, 100 of the 159 stories from the original series released on dvd, with 26 of them partly or entirely missing episodes. Now that BBC owns 2|entertain, the production company that has been releasing the series on dvd, we may be seeing a quicker release schedule for future stories.
Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!
